Two Patriots make NFL Top 100 list so far
The NFL top 100 list began its countdown on Sunday night, with Patriots’ Mac Jones debuting on the list after just his rookie season.
Since 2011, NFL players have been asked to vote on who they believe the top 100 players are entering the following season.
The show began on Sunday night, with the list counting down from number 100 to 51 on the NFL Network.
Mac Jones was the first Patriot announced to make the list, debuting at number 85 and inevitably setting the internet ablaze.
Regardless of how anyone may feel about the Patriots or Jones himself, he was able to have a very successful rookie season.
- Ended the season with a 10-7 record, finishing second in the AFC East
- Helped bring the Patriots back to the playoffs after the team missed them in 2021
- Completed 352/521 passes (67.6%) for 3,801 yards
- Totaled 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions
- Placed second in AP Offensive Rookie of the Year voting
- Selected to the Pro Bowl
Despite the negative response from fans around the league, the top 100 list is always tabulated from votes that NFL players cast. There is a respect level for Jones around the league, hence his placement coming into his sophomore season.
Another first year Patriot made his debut on the list Sunday night as Matthew Judon would later be announced, coming in at number 52.
Judon’s first season with the Patriots was a memorable one. Not only would he become the most dominant force on the defense, but he would also break several records as well. In 16 games, he would total 12.5 sacks and 25 quarterback hits, 60 combined tackles, and one fumble recovery. His performance also earned him his third Pro Bowl selection.
Looking ahead to the 2022 season, Judon will surely continue as a leader of the defense. He established himself as an important part of their success and will be for years to come.
