Three free agents the Patriots should consider signing: Alexander Johnson, Inside linebacker

If the Patriots want to add an unquestioned talent to their inside linebacking group, look no further than Alexander Johnson, a former Denver Broncos’ linebacker.

Johnson possess excellent athletic ability, a good pass rush, and great east to west movement.

He’s plays with reckless abandon and even though he’s 30 years old, he didn’t break into the NFL until the 2019 season, so he’s doesn’t have a ton of treat on his tires.

Raekwon McMillan and Ja’Whaun Bentley look about set as the starting inside linebackers, but I wouldn’t hate it if the team took a step to improve their defense with the signing of Johnson.  He lasted all of free agency without getting signed, so one could figure that he would accept a backup position if it meant getting onto an active roster.

Make no mistake, Alexander Johnson should be on a roster and should be starting somewhere, so the Patriots could make a very smart and cheap signing by bringing Johnson in.
