According to PFF, New England Patriots star WR DeVante Parker is the most intriguing star on the roster heading into the 2022-23 NFL season.

New England Patriots acquired star WR DeVante Parker from the Miami Dolphins this offseason in a trade with the New England Patriots for a 2023 third-round pick. In 2019, Parker had a breakout season, however, he’s never reached this amount of success again. During the 2019 season, he recorded 72 catches, 1,202 yards, and nine touchdowns, according to Pro Football Reference. While struggling to repeat the production, Patriots HC Bill Belichick sees promise and potential within Parker’s play. In the last two seasons combined, he’s managed to have 103 receptions for 1,308 yards and six touchdowns.

There’s no secret the element Parker can bring to the Patriots’ offense. His explosiveness and size may cause matchup nightmares for the opposing team’s defensive backs on Sundays. Not to mention, Parker has led the NFL in contested catches over the past two seasons (35), according to Pro Football Focus. Due to the underwhelming production of a first-round draft pick, N’Keal Harry, the excitement for Parker’s potential grows even stronger by the day. Parker’s proving to be making an impact already early in training camp. In fact, DeVante Parker is ranked the most intriguing star on the Patriots heading into the 2022 season, reported Ari Meirov for Pro Football Focus.

"Acquired this offseason in a pick-swap with Miami, Parker brings a different element to the Patriots’ offense as a big-bodied receiver who can go up and get the ball. In fact, Parker has led the NFL in contested catches over the past two seasons (35), and that’s despite missing nine games. And with so much of the Patriots’ offense geared toward the middle of the field, Parker has the potential to make an immediate presence for contested passes near the boundary.Essentially, New England expects Parker to become what they thought N’Keal Harry could be when the team drafted him in the first round in 2019. Parker has already been making an impact at camp while growing chemistry with quarterback Mac Jones."

New England Patriots Hopes for 2022

The Pats are hoping the addition of Parker and the latest draft picks can help beef up the production offensively. Understanding the way the league is trending and all the opposing teams around the league continue to beef up offensively will force the Pats to be able to keep up. Meaning, it will force them to beef up their offense as well in order to compete and put scores on the board. The Dolphins continue to get faster and the Bills are the reigning AFC East champions for a reason. The Patriots will develop Mac Jones and compete at the highest level while doing so.
