Three crazy trades to help the New England Patriots in 2022
Three crazy trades to help New England Patriots: Deebo Samuel going from coast to coast?
Deebo Samuel seems a bit unhappy in San Francisco. He was used as a running back and wide receiver in 2021, and it appears that he’d rather be used as a receiver only, and wants a contract extension.
Kyle Shanahan is an offensive genius, so perhaps he got the absolute most out of Samuel, but the 26 year old exploded for 1,405 receiving yards this year along with eight rushing touchdowns.
He proved to be a gamechanger at the position and would again solve the Patriots’ receiver issues. There is apparently no deal imminent for Samuel, and his status for training camp is unknown.
Money talks, so if the Niners want to pony up the money that it will take Samuel is likely to stay.
The Patriots do have an opportunity for another couple seasons to really chase a Super Bowl before they have to pay Mac Jones, so making a push for Deebo Samuel for the All-Pro makes sense.
San Francisco would also be sending him quite a ways away out of the conference, so it’s not likely that they would have to deal with playing against him.
Giving up two first round picks, in 2023 and 2024, might be the only way for the Patriots to acquire Deebo Samuel.
