New England Patriots fans haven’t had much to celebrate thus far this offseason.

Between letting JC Jackson sign with the Chargers at a reasonable price, failing to find a replacement for the All-Pro corner, and losing offensive line pillars Ted Karras and Shaq Mason, the Patriots shockingly haven’t moved the needle they overachieved after they made the playoffs in 2021.

Taking that into account, the trade for DeVante Parker really couldn’t have come at a better time for New England.

With just weeks until the 2022 NFL Draft, the team now has a respectable receiving corps in place for Mac Jones, meaning they could pass on taking one in the first round in favor of a cornerback or offensive linemen.

If this newfound flexibility wasn’t enough of a reason to celebrate, surely Jones working out with his top playmakers will do the trick.

On Thursday, Jones posted a clip to Instagram that showed Parker (!), Jakobi Meyers, Kendrick Bourne and JJ Taylor all catching passes from the second-year QB at an undisclosed location in Tampa, Florida.

Mac Jones was working out with the Patriots’ top WRs this week.

This has to get Patriots fans amped for the 2022 campaign, no? With offseason workouts getting underway in less than a week’s time, you can tell Jones is itching to get back on the field.

For someone coming off a season in which he ranked first amongst rookie quarterbacks in wins, completion percentage, passing yards, yards per completion, touchdowns and passer rating, that speaks to the Alabama product’s work ethic and dedication to be the best version of himself.

With that said, it takes two to tango and the Patriots’ receivers deserve just as much credit as Jones for taking part in this workout.

Parker showing up is obviously the big takeaway given the ink on his trade terms isn’t even dry yet, but don’t gloss over Bourne and Meyers showing up and looking to build off career years in 2021.

Though not pictured, Nelson Agholor was also in attendance, leaving N’Keal Harry as the only notable Patriots WR who didn’t show. That isn’t all that surprising, however. With Parker now in the mix, the 2019 first-round pick is buried even further on the depth chart will either get traded or released sometime in the near future.

The jury is still out on whether Damien Harris, Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry will join their teammates, but we wouldn’t overreact.

The big takeaway is Jones and his receivers want their chemistry to be firing on all cylinders by the time training camp rolls around.
