New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones was a late addition to the Pro Bowl, but he was still one of the must-see attractions of the event, as his 70-yard run to the end zone and Griddy celebration helped him stand out on social media. Jones was whipping the ball all over the field.

He went 12-of-16 and found Las Vegas Raiders receiver Hunter Renfrow in the end zone for a touchdown. Renfrow ended up representing his hometown team after becoming Derek Carr’s top target on a Raiders team that made it to the postseason with a late-season run.

Jones made the Pro Bowl despite his top receivers being the slightly above-average Kendrick Bourne, Jakobi Meyers, and the disappointing Nelson Agholor. He needs one more star that could really improve the floor of this unit, and Renfrow would fit the bill.

If the Patriots have their wits about them in 2023, they should try everything possible to make sure that Renfrow is wearing navy blue. Jones and Renfrow would be a match made in heaven, as getting a sure-handed slot guy could help Belichick’s offense hit its stride.

Hunter Renfrow would be perfect for the New England Patriots.

Renfrow, who was picked in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft despite a tremendous college career at Clemson, became an instant contributor for the Raiders. With 103 catches, 1,038 yards, and nine scores to his name this season, he has exceeded even the most optimistic projections.

You don’t end up in the Pro Bowl with his size if you don’t possess great explosion at the line of scrimmage and sure hands. This offense thrives when Jones gets the ball out of his hands as quickly as possible, and Renfrow should be able to win matchups at the line of scrimmage with regularity.

One of the big obstacles New England faces is competing with Las Vegas for Renfrow’s services. New head coach Josh McDaniels runs an offense that has churned out star receivers in the Renfrow mold for years. With another 100-catch season and potential playoff berth on the horizon, will Renfrow consider leaving?

The Patriots might use one of their premium draft picks in order to select a wide receiver like Chris Olave, but Renfrow should be right at the top of their list of potential additions if they don’t go that route. His style of play, combined with Jones’ accuracy, will make the Patriots nearly unstoppable on third and short.
