JC Jackson probably just made his final interception with the Patriots

It was pretty difficult adjusting to the first Sunday without football in months. For those wondering, yes, we’re including the Pro Bowl, because whatever the NFL’s biggest stars took part in this past Sunday was not football.

The Pro Bowl has become a laughingstock in recent years, and the 2022 edition might just be the worst of the bunch. In a vacuum, it was a glorified two-hand touch scrimmage with sloppy quarterback play and almost zero tackling.

For New England Patriots fans, though, it had to be nice to see the team be well-represented by Mac Jones, who stole the show by hitting the Griddy dance and throwing for a touchdown, and JC Jackson, who recorded an interception.

With Jones currently being all the rage — mostly for his dance moves — let’s keep the conversation focused on Jackson since it feels like his time here is limited.

With the star cornerback’s future up in the air, we can’t help but wonder if he logged his final interception with the Patriots.

Did JC Jackson record his final interception for the Patriots at Sunday’s Pro Bowl?

While the game lacked a competitive spirit from both sides, Jackson came to play. In limited snaps, the first-time Pro Bowler managed three tackles and an interception of Russell Wilson, which was a pretty big play given it came in the end zone.

Truth be told, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. Undrafted Patriots cornerbacks have a knack for picking off Wilson in the end zone.

Jackson didn’t use his ball-hawking prowess to make the interception, but he showed great reflexes and hands to haul in the pass, which deflected off 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk in an isntant. And don’t sleep on that nifty footwork near the sidelines to get both feet in bounds.

It was an eventful weekend for Jackson, who owed voters a strong performance after he got snubbed from the Pro Bowl last year.

On top of intercepting a future Hall of Famer in Wilson, Jackson also got to catch up with former Patriots teammate Stephon Gilmore.

That photo has to hit Patriots fans in the feels.

After all, it’s extremely possible that Jackson joins Gilmore as far as star CBs to have unceremonious departures from the Patriots. While Gilmore’s was a lot more messy and ended with a trade, Jackson’s (assuming he leaves, obviously) will create a similar-level uproar amongst the fan base.

Time will tell if New England decides to do right by Jackson, but we wouldn’t fault fans who got a little emotional watching him record this interception wearing a Patriots uniform. It won’t count on the stat sheet, but it could go down as his 26th and final INT for the organization.

We hope we’re wrong.
