6. 1993 Cleveland Browns

Team record: 7-9

The 1992 Cleveland Browns were a step in the right direction. The quarterback situation wasn’t ideal but they managed to eke out seven wins. In 1993, they began dreaming of winning double-digit games and making the playoffs for the first time under Belichick.

Cleveland couldn’t have asked for a better start. They won their first three games and gave up no more than 16 points in the process. But while their playoff hopes began burning brighter, the injuries began piling up and Belichick was unable to stop the bleeding. By the time the season came to a close, Cleveland effectively became the worst team in the league, losing seven of their last nine games. As much as we want to blame Belichick, there simply wasn’t much he could do.

Just like the prior season, Belichick was forced to deal with numerous quarterbacks taking snaps. Between Vinny Testaverde, Bernie Kosar, and Todd Philcox (yes Todd Philcox), the Browns were only able to score 23 total touchdowns while throwing 19 interceptions between them. Not even the great Bill Belichick can handle the horrific QB play he was forced to endure.
