8. 1995 Cleveland Browns

Team record: 5-11

Bill Belichick was well on his way to being ousted from Cleveland. If the Browns decided to do so, no one would’ve faulted them. They were certified playoff contenders year in and year out, but under Belichick, they were often found at the bottom of the barrel.

In 1994, there appeared to be a light at the end of the tunnel. For the first time in the career of Belichick, he had the Browns clicking on all cylinders. They won 11 games that season and appeared to be moving in the right direction.

But, in the blink of an eye, everything fell apart again the very next year. Their defense was mind-numbingly bad, giving up 22.3 points per game. In hindsight, that doesn’t seem so awful, but when you’re only able to muster 18.1 points per game, good for 25th in the league, it’s really not good.

As a result, Cleveland won only five games and Belichick was shown the door immediately following the season.
