The New England Patriots are currently in possession of the No. 11 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, as Bill Belichick has this team positioned to add one more difference maker next year before they can truly be considered a robust playoff contender after two up-and-down seasons without Tom Brady.

Things can change over the next 10 games, but we can safely say the Pats’ draft position won’t be changing drastically.

While the Patriots appear to have their quarterback box checked thanks to Mac Jones, New England could still stand to make some new additions on both offense and defense. Luckily, while the quarterback crop isn’t amazing, this draft is packed to the brim with talent at almost every position.

If the Patriots end up in the middle of the first round, Belichick will be spoiled for choice when it comes to improving this roster since this class features multiple impact players who could be scooped up instantly.

If the Patriots want to either beef up the defense or get Jones some extra help on the offensive end, look for one of these five players to end up in red and blue.

5 First-Round 2022 Mock Draft targets for Patriots

Pick Analysis. LB. 5. 843. player. Scouting Report. Utah. Devin Lloyd

Lloyd has some staunch competition for the top linebacker spot in the draft from Alabama’s Christian Harris and Georgia’s Nakobe Dean. Lloyd might be better for New England, however, as his 6-3, 232-pound frame and surprising downhill speed have helped make the Utes one of the most feared Pac-12 defenses.

Lloyd has recorded 69 tackles and four sacks so far this year, as the three-year starter is responsible for rushing the passer, filling the gaps in run support, dropping back in coverage, and calling the defense. Belichick has a mold that he likes his linebackers to fill, and Lloyd is almost archetypal in that regard.

Devin Lloyd could be a perfect linebacker for the Patriots.

Lloyd might not be the best athlete at the position, as someone smaller and speedier like Dean might be able to jump above him on several big boards. Having said that, if you want a Day 1 starter who won’t require a ton of intense instruction, Lloyd is the man for the job.

The Patriots have long had one of the most underrated players in the league in Dont’a Hightower, but they need to find a replacement for him considering his age. With Lloyd and Josh Uche in the linebacker room, the Hightower succession plan could go off without a hitch.
