3 reasons Bill Belichick could be on hot seat after 2021

2. Past friction with Patriots owner Robert Kraft

It may seem as if Belichick is the mastermind behind it all and the top boss, but even he has to answer to someone, and that is Patriots owner Robert Kraft. It has been reported on numerous occasions that Kraft and Belichick have butted heads in their time together, which is expected when two powerful individuals work together for so long.

In a 2018 article by ESPN’s Seth Wickersham, it was reported that Belichick, Kraft, and Brady, would frequently disagree about a lot of things.

"Belichick, Brady and owner Robert Kraft — have had serious disagreements. They differ on Brady’s trainer, body coach and business partner Alex Guerrero; over the team’s long-term plans at quarterback; over Belichick’s bracing coaching style; and most of all, over who will be the last man standing."

It is also believed that tension is what helped drive Brady away, even when Kraft wanted to keep him — though neither of the three have ever publicly said that was the case.

In any event, Kraft can’t enjoy watching Brady still dominate the NFL while Belichick and the Patriots are struggling. If he ever nears a breaking point, their past frictions may be the push towards the decision in letting Belichick go.
