Patriots: Steve Belichick’s brother laughs off wild facial expressions from Sunday night
Somewhat lost in the shuffle of Tom Brady’s triumphant return to New England on Sunday Night Football when the Patriots battled the Buccaneers was defensive coordinator Steve Belichick being … very weird on the sidelines.
In the fourth quarter of a tight game which the Pats led by one, the man was dialed in, trying to keep TB12 and Tampa Bay from scoring 20 points on the evening.
But he couldn’t keep his tongue in his mouth or stop making bizarre faces?
NBC’s cameras caught him dead in the act and it wasn’t long before he was meme’d to death.
His brother, Brian Belichick, who is the team’s safeties coach, seemed to have gotten a kick out of the ordeal, and even went as far to tell the media that he “wouldn’t say [Steve’s behavior] is normal.”
Patriots DC Steve Belichick’s faces on the sideline got the social media treatment.
Bill Belichick complimented his son for making it tough on Brady all night (very true!) and we can’t help but think it was because he was being distracted by these expressions every time he peered over to the Patriots’ sideline. Toss in a couple fart noises to make it harder to hear the play calls and Steve was really doing it all.
His defensive schemes? Worthy of praise from dad. Whatever this was? We’re really not sure the emotionless, expressionless head coach would offer his stamp of approval … unless of course it was giving the team a competitive advantage. Father Bill will take that in any capacity.
How about those snapshots? Denial. Anger. Bargaining. Acceptance? Really not sure what’s going on in his head. Maybe he was confused because he held one of the best offenses in the league to 19 points and 380 yards on the evening?
Many didn’t think the son of Bill Belichick who sports a mullet could get any weirder, but of course, that managed to take everyone by surprise in the most highly-anticipated game at Gillette Stadium in years.
