1. Green Bay Packers

Much like the previous three teams on this list, it’s fairly easy to connect the dots in terms of why the Packers mad sense as a landing spot for Gilmore on Wednesday morning. After all, they just lost superstar CB Jaire Alexander to an AC joint injury.

Alexander’s return timetable is currently unknown, and Green Bay hasn’t ruled out that he could be out indefinitely, if not the rest of the season. On top of that, Kevin King has missed the last two games in concussion protocol and is in danger of missing his third in a row this weekend if he can’t get cleared.

Alexander is obviously the bigger concern, as King should be back in Week 6 at the absolute latest, but this is a dicey situation for the Packers, who look like a Super Bowl contender with Aaron Rodgers carving up opposing defenses.

To put it simply, King (when healthy) isn’t No. 1 CB material. Alexander is one of the premier shutdown corners the league has to offer, and he will be sorely missed for however long he’s sidelined.

Green Bay just seemed like a no-brainer destination for Gilmore…and the recruitment process began immediately, as Davante Adams commented “Call me.” on Gilmore’s Instagram announcement of his Patriots release.

We’re not GM material, but trading for Gilmore in the wake of Alexander’s injury made too much sense. Fortunately for us, Carolina stepped up instead. Who needs another Aaron Rodgers ring anyway?
