The New England Patriots have been the talk of the NFL over the last few days.

Between Cam Newton’s league-imposed sabbatical, trading Sony Michel to the Rams, and the quarterback competition between Newton and Mac Jones, the Patriots have been a content factory this week.

So why not take a break from all the madness and discuss … even more madness?

That’s right, the Patriots are somehow entwined in a cheating scandal (no, not that kind!) that’s taken the NBA by storm.

News broke on Monday that NBA superstar Steph Curry’s parents, Dell and Sonya, are divorcing after 33 years of marriage.

Basketball fans were hoping the divorce would go over smoothy, but that’s been anything but the case. So much so, in fact, that Curry’s father accused his wife of cheating with former Patriots tight end Steven Johnson.

Steph Curry’s dad accused his wife of cheating with former Patriots tight end Steven Johnson.

No matter the sport, if there’s a cheating scandal, you just know the Patriots are going to find their way into the middle of it.

In court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Dell said Sonya “began her extramarital affair with Mr. Johnson during the marriage and prior to the date of separation, and she lied to (Dell) each time she cheated on him.”

Not only that, but Curry’s father claims his estranged wife has been living with Johnson in Tennessee and shouldn’t be granted alimony because of it, so that’s another wild twist.

While Sonya admitted to currently being in a relationship, she denied cheating on Dell, claiming her relationship with Johnson began “months” after she and the former 16-year NBA veteran agreed separate to separate last March.

As we’ve seen with high-profile divorce sagas, Sonya is also alleging that Dell cheated on her while they were still married, saying he had several different casual relationships and that some of his close friends knew about it.

Anyway, those are all the dirty details.

As far as Johnson is concerned, the Patriots drafted him in the sixth round back in 1988. The Virginia Tech product played just one season in the NFL, logging one catch for five yards in 14 games (three starts).

Suffice it to say he’ll be remembered more for this divorce more than anything he accomplished in the NFL.

But as the old saying goes: any publicity is good publicity. Right?
