The New England Patriots will look to keep their undefeated preseason campaign alive when they face the New York Giants on Sunday.

It remains to be see how long Bill Belichick will play his starters, but you have to think both Cam Newton and Mac Jones will get a lot of reps — if Newton ends up cleared for takeoff.

After all, the two quarterbacks might be on level ground in their competition in light of the report that claims the Patriots are frustrated with Newton for being forced to miss three days of practice due to a misunderstanding of COVID-19 tests that he underwent away from the team facility.

The final preseason game isn’t always considered a must-watch by fans, but this development could change that for Sunday’s showdown.

Patriots Injury Report vs Giants for Preseason Week 3

The Patriots are mostly healthy, though they’ll be without N’Keal Harry, who sustained a shoulder injury in Week 2 against the Eagles. The third-year WR will be out a minimum of four weeks, so don’t expect to see him on Sunday.

Stephon Gilmore, meanwhile, is continuing to rehab from quad surgery. Belichick recently called the star cornerback day-to-day, so we’ll update his status later in the week if he returns to practice.

Patriots vs Giants Prediction for Preseason Week 3

The Patriots have utterly dominated the preseason and the Giants don’t seem motivated to play their starters, including quarterback Daniel Jones. Additionally, this could be Newton’s and Jones’ last chance to stake their claims for the starting job, so logic says to back the team with players who have something to play for.
