Briefly, prior to the 2013 NFL season, hard-nosed DE Rob Ninkovich and quarterback Tim Tebow shared a locker room with the New England Patriots.

Unfortunately, it seems as if a potential “Odd Couple” situation was defused before it ever had a chance to breathe.

According to Ninkovich’s quotes Wednesday, the ex-Pat has no patience for the continued Tebow sideshow, which rambled on this week with reports of a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where the ex-QB and Mets outfielder will try to play tight end.

In fact, Nink’s response to the news will have you thinking comeback — one day only, just so he can get a chance to pop Tebow in the ribs.

According to the former pass rusher, his position switch alone should disqualify him at this stage in the game, let alone his recent inactivity and his time spent wandering around in minor-league baseball.

Former Patriots DE Rob Ninkovich wants to smack Tim Tebow around.

On “Get Up!” Ninkovich took to the mic, and as required by his ESPN bosses, both brought Tebow up and smacked him down in one sentence:

"“If you threw a helmet and shoulder pads on me — and I haven’t played in four years — I would be able to throw around Tim Tebow as a tight end,” Ninkovich said, as transcribed by 247Sports.com. “Listen, you can’t just go from quarterback to a tight end. You can’t do it.”"

You can’t do it…in Nink’s house, at least!

The Tebow discourse has been beyond insufferable since the minute he put pen to paper, and odds are Urban Meyer simply wants the veteran around in his first-ever NFL locker room to bring some familiarity to the proceedings.

That hasn’t stopped the take machines from igniting, though, pumping out quality discourse regarding Tebow’s readiness, what his tight end contract means for Colin Kaepernick, and some backlash to the backlash, endorsing the ex-Gator’s ability to live his life.

Then there’s what ESPN’s Bob Wischusen had to say, calling out Tebow’s competitors if they’re unable to out-muscle the non-tight end for depth chart supremacy.

Will Tebow’s latest experiment work? Probably not. Will he enjoy getting hit after several years of facing stiched baseballs instead of jacked-up linebackers? Doubtful.

Whether Tebow sticks or not, though, it’s clear some NFL veterans have only a little thinly-worn patience remaining when it comes to his journey in the league.

No wonder his tenure in New England didn’t provide any standout moments. It’s tough to “Do Your Job” when the third-string quarterback wants to do every job.
