Julian Edelman announced his retirement this week, officially ushering in a strange new world for New England Patriots fans.
For the last decade, Pats fans have seen a lot change – but Tom Brady throwing to Edelman remained the same.
Now, going into 2021, everything is different.
It was a legendary career for Edelman, a college quarterback who spent time playing defense with the Patriots before turning into the go-to wideout of the GOAT.
Edelman caught 620 passes in his career for 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns. But his impact can’t really be measured in statistics alone.
Besides Brady himself, Edelman might be the most clutch player in New England history (Adam Vinatieri is the only other player in consideration). He got better in every Super Bowl he played in. Against Seattle, he had the iconic ‘concussion run.’ Against Atlanta he had the unbelievable miracle catch. Then against Los Angeles he won the Super Bowl MVP Award.
Overall, his postseason statistics are incredible. 19 games, 118 catches, 1,422 yards and seven touchdowns. Is he a Hall of Famer? We aren’t here to decide. We just want to celebrate an amazing career.
