Should Patriots ‘Pass or Pursue’ these top free agent wide receivers?

Ju Ju Smith-Schuster

Ju Ju Smith-Schuster has yet to truly cement himself as the true No. 1 receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and honestly has been a disappointment as compared to the promising young receiver he looked to be while playing behind Antonio Brown.

Should the Patriots look past the distractions and solely at the receiving talent?

Nonetheless, Smith-Schuster is still a top receiving talent and will be a hot commodity if the Steelers chose to let him walk.

From a Patriots perspective, his lack of certainty as a No. 1 option, plus his off-field antics, are probably a nonstarter for Bill Belichick.

Verdict: Pass

Allen Robinson

Allen Robinson hasn’t held back this offseason — and even during the 2020 campaign — about his contract situation.

He certainly has left the door open to returning to the Chicago Bears, but obviously believes that something should have been agreed upon before now, stating, “I personally feel like we had an opportunity to be able to get something done over the past 365 days.”

For wide receiver needy teams – this is great news!

Robinson has been a top-10 receiver in the NFL for the past half-decade, and at age 27 still has a lot left to offer.

This is a guy who could be an immediate No. 1 option for New England, and although Patriots fans would obviously hope they have a true talent under center, remember this guy has gotten the job done with Blake Bortles and Mitch Trubisky (sorry, gents).

Verdict: Pursue
