Scouting Report. LB. Penn State. Micah Parsons. Pick Analysis. 7. player. 50
NFL Draft 2021: This one stings for the Patriots.
By far the biggest blow to the Patriots comes when our seventh pick is delivered.
Potentially the top defensive player in this draft, Parsons has slipped in nearly every mock due to questions about personal conduct and lack of tangible counting statistics and turnover creation.
If Parsons is there for New England, it’s quite likely Bill Belichick files another “character concern” away and agrees to bet on talent. But we suspect he fills too many needs for the Lions to let him continue matriculating down the board. They’re sick of splashy wideouts and will let Jared Goff caretake the QB position for a year while they fill out the rest of the roster.
Pick Analysis. North Dakota State. Trey Lance. 8. 87. Scouting Report. QB. player
This just in: the Carolina Panthers do not currently have their QB of the future locked down. Stunning, I know.
This is the team running right behind the Dolphins in the (still somehow nonexistent!) Deshaun Watson trade chase, but if they don’t dump a Christian McCaffrey-tinged asset pile to Houston, they’ll be shopping for a quarterback with this pick. I’ll opt for Lance over Mac Jones here.
If this occurs, it’ll remove a significant temptation from Belichick’s plate. Remember how the Patriots are “heavily scouting” all the top QB prospects? They should be! They should also not become enamored with any of them, nor should they surrender assets for someone like Lance.
