1. Deshaun Watson

The Patriots should consider going all out for Deshaun Watson.

By all accounts, Deshaun Watson is not entirely pleased with the Houston Texans organization. The Texans may be even more of a dumpster fire than the Lions considering Detroit at least didn’t make a series of awful trades to hamstring their future with one of the best QBs in the league.

If Watson officially requests a trade at some point this offseason, there will be a huge amount of interest and the Patriots will have to compete with several other strong suitors for the generational talent.

But who cares what the cost would be for Watson? A talent like the “Michael Jordan of Football” doesn’t become available every day, even if it costs you three first-rounds and three second-rounders. After all, Belichick does his best work in the later rounds and on the UDFA market!

Is a trade the best route for the Patriots search of a new QB?

The Patriots are not by any means entering a full rebuild — it’s more of a re-tool. New England just needs a few pieces to re-enter the conversation as a playoff team. Once they get there, you know how it goes. Belichick will have the best game plans available for the team’s opponent that week.

For that reason, we believe a trade is by far the best route for the Patriots in their search of their new QB. Of course, if Prescott is available from a free agent perspective, Belichick should take a long and hard look at him too, since he’ll only cost money, allowing the Patriots to keep all of their draft picks.

All of the aforementioned quarterbacks have different skill sets and are at different points of their careers. Nonetheless, they are all exciting options and we’re not going to rule out anything for the Patriots as they enter one of their most uncertain offseasons in franchise history.
