Patriots QB Cam Newton gave fans a tremendous send-off after his final game.

New England Patriots fans learned early on Sunday that the team would likely be mutually parting ways with quarterback Cam Newton, who failed to overcome the countless obstacles placed before him when he came to Foxborough over the summer.

It’s probably not the end of the road for Newton in the NFL, but with the Patriots facing so many question marks heading into 2021, it’s clear he’s not the quarterback who will lead them into a new era. But guess what? It was truly a pleasure to have the ebullient Newton in town, even if it was only for one year.

In classic Newton fashion, too, he delivered a tremendous parting quote for everyone in New England, assuming, of course, this was his last game with the Patriots.

And that right there sums up his time with the team. Newton was always optimistic, never threw anybody under the bus, held himself accountable, and developed positive relationships with just about everyone around him.

To show appreciation for that and understand things may not turn out in the manner he prefers is perfectly on-brand.

Then he had this to add for good measure. What a guy.

Paying tribute to a group of fans that he didn’t even get to experience this season due to the pandemic. How can you not have a soft spot in your heart for this man?

And finally, the last postgame outfit.

Pure class. While it initially seemed like a culture shock thinking of Newton’s fashion before and after games when he initially signed with the Pats, it actually couldn’t have been a better breath of a fresh air. Tom Brady’s cookie-cutter beanies are no more, so having this change of pace next to Belichick’s goodwill hoodies sure felt refreshing.

Thanks for everything, Cam. We’re sorry it didn’t work out, but your energy, positivity and relentlessness during one of the most depressing seasons in Patriots history won’t be forgotten.
