Jay Glazer spoke with us about the Patriots QB situation courtesy of GNC and his Unbreakable Gym’s new supplement partnership.

There’s no more physically imposing force in the NFL news breaking community than FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer, and we were lucky enough to get a few minutes with him on Thursday to talk turkey, in addition to detailing the amazing work he does for the MVP Foundation (Merging Vets & Players), in conjunction with GNC.

“We’re taking veterans and pro athletes and merging them together,” Glazer told us. “To give them a new team for when the uniform comes off. The challenge is when you lose your tribe. Five years, we haven’t had a single suicide. Because we remind you of what your greatness is. It’s not the uniform, but it’s what’s behind your rib cage, behind the uniform.”

“And the message is great for the whole world,” he continued. “We’re going to get through this pandemic. We are. ‘Cause we got no choice. Because we’re unbreakable.”

And speaking of the pandemic…the uncertainty that has dominated our daily lives has certainly spread to the NFL, throwing off the best-laid plans of even the most disciplined franchises.

Remember a few weeks into the 2020 season when there was extension buzz surrounding Cam Newton’s early efforts with the Patriots? The QB then came down with COVID-19, missed several weeks, and returned in a fog brought on by either the after-effects of the disease or basic human struggles.

So where does that extension sit now? According to Glazer, the ultimate ending has yet to be determined, but Newton’s presence will not stop the Patriots from evaluating other quarterbacks.

“I could definitely see them drafting a quarterback regardless, but jury’s still out,” Glazer said. “I know earlier in the year, they were concerned about some of his mental mistakes, but that was after he came back from COVID and I can’t tell you one way or the other if he had COVID-fatigue or not. I don’t know if even he’d be able to have a full grasp of it.”

“I think, for Cam, this next (sequence) down the stretch will be big, but I do think that they’ll still go and get somebody in the draft.”

As for any insight into who else the Patriots might be targeting on offense? Because, wink wink, they own nearly the most cap space in the NFL? Unfortunately, it might be time to pump the brakes on that discussion.

Glazer emphatically put me in my place when I attempted to pry, stating, “Way too early. So early. We also don’t know what’s going to happen draft-wise yet, and seniors might come back due to COVID.” Luckily, we were not in the same room at the time.

Not a mock draft guy, it would seem.

Glazer, very much in character, then went back to hanging out at his West LA “Unbreakable” location, getting a solid workout in before the evening had commenced in full.

“We’re a pretty cool crew,” Glazer told us. “We always like to say we build you up from the inside out at Unbreakable. It’s like the Oscars and the Super Bowl all wrapped up in one and it’s every day.”
