2. John Kasay’s kickoff in Super Bowl XXXVIII

Does anybody else remember that this game was scoreless with just a few minutes remaining before halftime?

It’s pretty wild to think a total of 61 points were scored. In this one, Brady really started cementing his legacy as one of the NFL’s all time clutch performers. The Patriots legend completed 32-of-48 pass attempts for a whopping 354 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

Like the Patriots’ first championship, Super Bowl XXXVIII required a game-winning drive in the final minute. However, where this particular moment of glory loses its standing as one of the most memorable wins in New England history comes down to the fact that the Carolina Panthers’ kickoff went out of bounds (thank you, John Kasay!) and allowed Brady to start that drive on the 40-yard line. Muhsin Muhammad nearly stole the momentum for the Panthers, who were trying to go from 1-15 to the Super Bowl, with an 85-yard TD from Jake Delhomme to grab a 22-21 lead in the fourth. After trading two more TDs, all New England needed was a chance, and Kasay cracked the door WIDE open.

With a player of TB12’s caliber, you might as well have put a minimum of three points on the scoreboard before the drive even started.
