Patriots: 3 Pats players poised for huge bounce back years
By Jerry Trotta
1. Isaiah Wynn
It’s Isaiah Wynn’s job to lock up the line for the Patriots.
It had to be Isaiah Wynn for the No. 1 spot, no?
The third-year left tackle has appeared in just eight games since the Patriots selected him with the No. 23 overall pick of the 2018 Draft. A torn achilles forced him to miss the entirety of his rookie year, and a foot injury suffered in Week 2 of last campaign saw him placed on injured reserve.
The latest buzz out of New England suggests that Wynn is fully healthy and hasn’t rehabbed for months, meaning that he’s spent the extended layoff rebuilding his strength and improving his craft … which is pretty scary when you think about how those are two aspects of his game that have never been doubted.
There’s something so captivating about betting on players who know they have a lot to prove, and the former Georgia Bulldog obviously fills that bill. If Wynn doesn’t stay healthy and perform up to his potential in Year 3, his future with the Patriots will be in serious question, and we are expecting the 23-year-old to flourish under that pressure.
