Patriots: Donald Trump has wild idea about new job for Bill Belichick
By Jerry Trotta
President Donald Trump made a wild comment about Patriots HC Bill Belichick.
Even his most ardent supporters can admit that President Donald Trump is susceptible to the occasional outlandish comment. While he normally does that during press conferences and at campaign rallies, the 74-year-old decided to change things up a bit on Tuesday and discuss the New England Patriots.
Trump called into the Hugh Hewitt Show for an interview, during which he was asked questions about the state of college football and other prominent topics throughout the country. At some point, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick — who confirmed he wrote a letter endorsing Trump’s candidacy back in 2016 — was brought up.
When did things turn bizarre during this segment? Probably around the time the President claimed he would accept military advice from the six-time Super Bowl champion and likened him to the very best generals of the United States military.
Don’t worry, America. If the nation ever finds itself at war in the near future, you’ll be able to sleep just fine at night knowing that the legendary head coach and his strategic brilliance will be overseeing proceedings.
Due to the lack of footage from the interview, it’s unclear whether Trump was kidding, but we’re going to err on the side of caution. The former television personality loves nothing more than stirring up controversy, but even he isn’t crooked enough to actually believe the nonsense he spewed here…at least, we hope that’s the case.
This news probably didn’t appease the appetites of Patriots fans who are clamoring for more roster moves following the surprise signing of running back Lamar Miller on Monday. At the very least, we hope Trump’s wild comment about the 68-year-old head coach resulted in a few laughs.
After all, laughing is undoubtedly the best way to cope with the current climate of our divided country.
