The NFL is as unpredictable as any league in the world of sports, but we can without any hesitation say that Yannick Ngakoue will not be playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars come 2021. As expected, the star pass rusher was slapped with the franchise tag earlier this offseason and failed to agree to an extension with the Jags before the July 15 deadline, meaning that he will play this year on a $17.78 million salary.

At one point in time, it appeared that Ngakoue was a virtual lock to be traded, but Jacksonville was reportedly making ridiculous demands in negotiations with potential buyers.

The Pro Bowl defensive end went to great lengths to communicate his intentions to play seemingly anywhere else but with the Jaguars, and regularly started beef with the front office. That might deter some teams’ interest in signing him next March, but we fully believe his attitude will change once he’s out of Duval County for good.

Since entering the league in 2016, Ngakoue has notched 122 tackles, 37.5 sacks, 85 QB hits, 14 forced fumbles, nine passes defended and two interceptions. What more needs to be said? The Patriots would be out of their minds not to pursue the 25-year-old stud in 2021.
