3. Super Bowl XLIX

Malcolm Butler’s INT overshadowed Brady’s performance vs the Seahawks.

Remember when Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll made one of the greatest blunders in sports history by not handing the ball to bruising running back Marshawn Lynch on the one-yard line with a championship on the line in Super Bowl XLIX?

As we know, Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler jumped and subsequently intercepted a slant route that sealed the win for New England. We fully understand why that play consumed headlines across the country, but Brady’s impeccable performance in crunch time was woefully overlooked at the same time, and that just shouldn’t have happened.

He threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns — the final of which came with 2:02 remaining in regulation — and helped New England overcome a 10-point deficit late in the third quarter.

You can pin the blame on Carroll all you want. Without Brady, the Patriots likely would have gotten run off the field by Seattle.
