Patriots LB Rob Ninkovich has some OPINIONS on Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson.

Patriots fan favorite Rob Ninkovich has seen some things throughout his NFL career, which left him battered, bruised, and harder-nosed than when he entered the league.

Now approaching his fourth season of retirement, Ninkovich has begun plying his trade in the sports media landscape. Instead of hard hits, Nink’s new MO is confusing radio hits.

On ESPN’s “Get Up” on Monday, Ninkovich joined the show to endorse Chiefs signal caller Patrick Mahomes’ impressive talents. However, he believes that if Lamar Jackson were given the same gifts Mahomes has made good use of in Kansas City, America’s narrative would be entirely different.

Whenever you’re perusing the sports media landscape and hear a phrase like, “I think Pat Mahomes is gonna run away with the MVP, because his offense is loaded, but I will say this,” you know you’re about to get hit with a dose of the good stuff.

“I know everyone agrees with an obvious statement … (endless pause) … BUT, I came up with THIS!”

We love Lamar Jackson. Love him! But Jackson’s offense in Baltimore is so special because it’s predicated on the QB’s unique and disorienting skill set. If Jackson’s having an off day with his legs, his arm can’t carry the day, a fact that became painfully obvious during B-More’s playoff whimpering against the Titans in January.

Mahomes, on the other hand, did not have the same problem this past playoff run. He was repeatedly able to use his arm to escape trouble, firing off throws to their intended target from hard-to-fathom angles. Mahomes’ whole thing is his complete package — why would Jackson level up after arriving in Kansas City when his whole game plan revolves around himself?

We also haven’t seen any discernible evidence that Mahomes would struggle without his full cadre of receivers, or would have trouble adjusting to the…also pretty elite group of speedy weapons in Baltimore, from Hollywood Brown to Miles Boykin.

For what it’s worth, the Ravens also have a better ‘back in Mark Ingram than any member of Mahomes’ committee last year.

Safe to say Ninkovich has had more success in recent days talking snowball fights with Bill Belichick than he has getting cold-taked on QB battles.

Thus far in their NFL careers, Mahomes has shown much more propensity to wriggle out of disaster than Jackson has. We wager he’d be able to make due with a group of offensive weapons that helped lead the Ravens to the AFC’s top seed last year.
