Patriots defensive backs Devin and Jason McCourty wrote a guest piece for the MMQB on Monday.

There’s still so much uncertainty surrounding the 2020 NFL season amid the coronavirus pandemic, especially when you consider there have yet to be any changes. Teams are still scheduled to travel extensively, some owners are expecting fans to attend games in some capacity, and the most contact-heavy sport hasn’t laid out any safety protocols.

And when you ask New England Patriots defensive backs Devin McCourty and Jason McCourty, they’re not exactly feeling comfortable with training camp right around the corner.

The twin brothers penned a guest column for Sport Illustrated’s Monday Morning Quarterback and had plenty to express,

“As the days roll past in July, every NFL player is scrolling through Twitter, finding out news about the upcoming season, wondering if there will even be a season,” the brothers wrote. “So many questions with virtually no answers, all three weeks removed from a potential start to training camp. As fear continues to grow for our nation, it is also being spoken about among us players. Will we have an option to opt out of the season? Will we be making our full salary? What if there is a COVID outbreak within the league? It’s so hard to make a decision of whether we will play or not without knowing what the exact plan is.”

Does commissioner Roger Goodell really need to be alarmed by the players in order to provide more answers with the season fast approaching? We’re sure the league is working on a number of things (uh, we hope, at least) to ensure the safety of coaches and players, but we haven’t heard a peep. That’s a bit troubling, regardless of how you look at it.

This is a worthwhile read, in which the brothers also touch upon social justice and discuss Colin Kaepernick, DeSean Jackson, and the upcoming presidential election. We don’t want to overlook the importance of those words.

However, the topic of the 2020 season has kind of flown under the radar, as many feel or are assuming America will be in the clear in regards to the pandemic in a few months. College football might not even happen. Why would the pros be any different?

“…we have reached a point where there is no guidance, there is no wily old veteran to look up to when it comes to the circumstances we face today,” the twins concluded.

Anybody home, NFL?
