The Odell Beckham-Patriots trade rumors seriously need to stop because it’s not happening.
Nobody truly knows if Odell Beckham Jr. is happy in Cleveland, but we can say without an ounce of doubt that he is not going to be traded to the New England Patriots. T
he Browns superstar and Cam Newton, who recently inked a one-year deal with the reigning AFC East champs, have been spotted training together this offseason. Naturally, this stimulated speculation that a trade to Foxborough was imminent.
Time to get real though, guys, because this just isn’t in the cards for anyone.

There’s no doubting that Beckham, for better or worse, wears his emotions on his sleeve. However, that still doesn’t explain why trade speculation always seems to follow him, whether it’s harmless or serious.
The Patriots’ receiving corps, at least on paper, figures to be one of the worst in the NFL in 2020, so the Foxborough faithful obviously love the prospect of trading for a player of OBJ’s caliber.
There have been dozens of instances in the past that indicated the three-time Pro Bowler was on the verge of being dealt to New England. How many rumors need to flame out before they just stop surfacing altogether? When Beckham is shooting down the buzz, you know it has no legs whatsoever.

And when you consider the Patriots tight salary cap and Beckham’s mammoth contract, there’s no way this could feasibly happen unless Belichick unloads some of New England’s highest-paid talent.
The former No. 12 overall pick working out with members of the Patriots means absolutely nothing. If that meant a trade was forthcoming, the NFL news cycle would literally never stop. How many superstars have been seen running drills with players on rival teams this offseason? The list is endless.
We had to be THAT guy because a Newton-OBJ partnership in New England would be awesome, but we’ve done this dance too many times to actually believe it has a chance of becoming a reality.
