The New England Patriots took to Twitter on Wednesday to welcome free agent signing Cam Newton to Foxborough.

The New England Patriots officially have another MVP under center.

On Wednesday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the defending AFC East champs signed free agent Cam Newton to a one-year contract, and the franchise disclosed the big news in an awesome tweet that featured the 31-year-old’s preferred (and gibberish) font.

Yeah, at some point, we’re all going to have to find this normal. And that time is now.

Credit to the runners of New England’s official Twitter account, because they absolutely nailed this welcome post. Not only was the inclusion of Newton’s signature a nice touch, but we also can’t get over how sharp the three-time Pro Bowler looks in a Patriots uniform. It just seems like the perfect fit.

And the slick jersey swaps just kept getting better, too.

The particulars of Newton’s contract were also confirmed on Wednesday. Per reports, the Patriots guaranteed Newton $550,000 with a $1.1 million base salary. The deal also features a max sum of $7.5 million and $5.8 million in incentives. You could certainly argue that a player of the former No. 1 overall pick’s caliber deserves more than the league minimum, but that’s why Bill Belichick is the best at what he does.

Newton will have to remain healthy, and if he does while returning to superstar form, he’ll be due for a monster pay day on the open market next offseason.

There are a number of caveats attached to this move, but there’s no doubting that the Auburn product has the talent to take the Patriots offense, which struggled last year with Tom Brady under center, to new heights.

It feels weird to say, but the Cam Newton era is officially underway in Foxborough.
