New England Patriots kicker Justin Rohrwasser kept his tattoo promise.

On the heels of the July 4th holiday, Patriots kicker Justin Rohrwasser has reportedly followed through on the promise he semi-made following the 2020 NFL Draft.

Controversy erupted in the wake of New England’s selection of the former Marshall kicker when it was discovered he sported ink that paid tribute to the Three Percenters, a far-right militia that, on the surface, fights for gun rights, but more prominently has defended white nationalists and serves as protectors during the Charlottesville demonstration.

At first, Rohrwasser only pledged to cover his tattoo. Now, following increased pressure, he has reportedly removed it.

Rohrwasser claimed, in late April, that he had never been informed of the full extent of his tattoo’s associations.

“… (The tattoo) was described to me as the percentage of colonists that rose up against the British. I thought that was such an American sentiment, a Patriotic sentiment,” Rohrwasser told NBC Sports Boston. “Coming from a military family, that really spoke to me. I always was proud to be an American.”

Back in late April, he vowed to have the tattoo taken care of, seemingly ashamed of the connection.

“I saw someone posted a picture of me and my tattoo and linking me to some horrific events, obviously Charlottesville, and these horrible things,” Rohrwasser admitted to NBCSN. “The first time I found out what it was linked to was Saturday. That’s why it was so surprising.”

However, for all the kicker’s correct answers in the wake of the controversy, it would seem he left the tattoo on his body from late April through early July, unless he acted earlier and chose not to publicize it, for whatever reason. TMZ claims he, “began the removal process almost immediately after the NFL Draft … and described the process as physically painful.”

Rohrwasser’s Twitter account remains locked after he entered the center of a firestorm unwillingly, he claims, but certainly on account of his own lack of education, if we believe him at face value.
