Patriots QB Cam Newton is sick of hearing he signed for well less than what he’s worth.

Is anyone ever going to learn? Does criticizing the New England Patriots ever get anybody anywhere? Six Super Bowl titles later, apparently not, but we’re not here to let everyone know how stupid they are.

The Pats were the losers of the offseason for a hot second, and then Bill Belichick turned around and signed former MVP Cam Newton to a contract that guarantees him just $550K (though he can earn up to $7.5 million in incentives). It’s a genius move and there’s no way around it.

But everyone out there telling Cam he shouldn’t have settled for that little and criticizing the Patriots for taking advantage of the former Panthers star (they didn’t, they just don’t have the cap space), once again gave New England more motivation to roll into 2020 and prove they can destroy the competition once again, even without Tom Brady.

Oh yeah, and they ticked off Newton.

“This is not about the money for me, it’s about respect.”

Did everyone forget Newton already earned over $120 million for his career? Do you think for a second this man is on a mission to secure another bag? This is exactly where everyone misses the point. Newton is striving for NFL glory and wants to prove his former team gave up on him way too early.

He doesn’t care about a few extra million dollars at this point in his career. He wants to be in a winning situation and get back atop the league after having injuries hold him back for the last few years.

He couldn’t have come to a better place. Belichick is the game’s best coach and consistently has the Patriots skating to the AFC Championship Game. Sure, we’ll see what happens without Tom Brady, who’s been a driving force over the last two decades, but there’s no doubt he was buoyed by Belichick’s game plans and defensive schemes.

Give Newton that help, and there’s no reason why a guy with his skill set and motivation shouldn’t be able to make the Patriots a Super Bowl favorite.

And when that happens, everyone who decided to chime in about his contract will once again regret it. Maybe this will be the time we all learn.
