Randy Moss set records during his time in New England

Similar to Welker, Randy Moss came to New England in 2007 and immediately turned the Patriots offense into one of the best in NFL history.

And just like Welker, Moss’ 2006 campaign wasn’t his best year, as he recorded 42 catches — only three of which went for touchdowns.

A change of scenery from Oakland to New England was just what Moss needed to get a breath of fresh air. Randy Moss’ resurgence correlating with the Patriots offense returning to form was no fluke. Moss set the record with the most receiving touchdowns in a season, and helped Brady set the record at the time in single season touchdown passes.

In his first year in New England, he even recorded the go-ahead touchdown in Super Bowl 42 before … well, before Eli Manning closed his eyes and hooked up with David Tyree for the luckiest catch of all time.

Moss had another good season in 2008 without Brady, but in 2009, you could tell things were falling apart after a dismal performance in the Wild Card game against Baltimore. Moss had five catches for 48 yards, and onto the scene came Julian Edelman, who caught two touchdowns that game.

In 2010, it was Moss talking about how his time was over in New England, and soon after, he was gone.

Moss never got a ring in New England, but his performance was record-setting and he was on the fringe of having the game-winning touchdown in an undefeated season.
