New York Jets – C.J. Mosley

If the Patriots can’t bring back Miami’s Kyle Van Noy, then they’d be wise to swipe the Jets’ C.J. Mosley.

Mosley played in just two games for New York last year after signing a five-year, $85 million deal in March of 2019. While a groin injury destroyed his inaugural season in the Big Apple, it’s safe bet to assume that the 28-year-old has probably made a complete recovery after having all this time off to heal and get right.

When he’s healed and right, Mosley is one of the best linebackers in the league. A former Raven, he was a tackling machine in Baltimore from 2014-2018. He’s also displayed a real nose for the ball time and time again, accruing 37 pass deflections, 10 interceptions, six forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and two defensive touchdowns over the course of just 79 career games of action.

Added to the Patriots, Mosley would immediately fill the void left by Van Noy and fellow ex-Patriot Jamie Collins Sr., who also left in free agency following the 2020 season.

A linebacker trio of Dont’a Hightower, C.J. Mosley, and Ja’Whaun Bentley would easily stack up against last year’s super trio (Hightower, Van Noy, Collins).

Bill Belichick IS the system for the New England Patriots. dark. Next

All in all, we’d take the Bills’ Stefon Diggs to buttress the Patriots’ thin receiver group, the Dolphins’ Mike Gesicki to give Jarrett Stidham a reliable tight end, and the Jets’ C.J. Mosley to replace the departed talent at linebacker on the defense in 2020.
