3rd Down: Find a decent tight end

After Rob Gronkowski retired last offseason, the Patriots had no success from their tight end position last season. Matt LaCosse, Ryan Izzo, and Ben Watson tried their best, but the production from the position was minuscule compared to previous seasons.

The Patriots have not signed a veteran tight end, even though there are still a handful of players available — including Jordan Reed, Delanie Walker, and Ed Dickson.

The Patriots did, however, pick up two very good tight ends in the draft who will most likely give the offense the impactful two-tight end look that has helped the team in the past. In the draft, they selected Devin Asiasi from UCLA and Dalton Keene from Virginia Tech.
