Tom Brady announced that he is teaming up with ESPN to create a documentary series about his career with the New England Patriots

Following ESPN’s most recent docuseries The Last Dance that featured one of the NBA’s greats in Michael Jordan, ESPN would like to continue their success by creating a series featuring one of the NFL’s best in Tom Brady and his career with the New England Patriots.

One of Brady’s many offseason endeavors has been creating a startup video production company called 199 Productions. The number 199 is significant, as Brady was selected 199th overall in the 2000 NFL Draft.

199 Productions, along with Gotham Chopra — who directed Brady’s Facebook documentary “Tom vs Time” — will be teaming up with ESPN and Disney in creating a docuseries about the success and Super Bowl experiences of Tom Brady called Man in the Arena.

Michael Jordan’s Last Dance brought a lot of light and answered a lot of unanswered questions and theories that people had about Jordan and the success of his Chicago Bulls, including the legendary “flu game.”

The 10-episode series displayed a lot of the challenges Jordan went through prior to winning all six of his NBA championships, and ESPN is hoping to get the same results out of the same type of series that features Brady, a nine-time Super Bowl appearing quarterback.

It’s worth mentioning that The Lance Dance averaged 5.6 million viewers throughout its 10-episode run, becoming ESPN’s most viewed and successful documentary series ever in history.

This is what Brady had to say about his company’s partnership and what will be their first produced featured film:

"”I’m excited to have my company 199 Productions be in business with ESPN and Disney along with our Religion of Sports partners to launch this new series that gives an inside look into the championship moments I’ve been blessed to experience. Through the series, we’re defining the key moments and challenges that were seemingly insurmountable, but through hard work and perseverance, became career-defining triumphs, in both victory and defeat. This compelling and powerful show will entertain, inspire and have you on the edge of your seat. We can’t wait to share it with the world.”"

Brady’s new documentary could get released while he’s still playing in the NFL

Brady’s Man in the Arena is set to air in 2021 — and there’s a strong chance that Brady could still be playing in the NFL, as he signed a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason.

Brady has won six out of the nine Super Bowls that he led the Patriots to during the course of the last two decades.

Seeing as Brady is the most successful and winningest player in NFL history, there’s a strong chance that his documentary series will draw in even more viewers than Michael Jordan’s did.

Connor Schell, executive VP of content for ESPN, expressed interest and intrigue on covering the successful career of Brady, per The Hollywood Reporter:

"“Nine Super Bowl appearances over the course of 20 years is an achievement on an unmatched level. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Tom Brady as he reflects on each of those nine, season-long journeys and the pivotal moments that defined them. Gotham Chopra is a highly skilled filmmaker who I am confident will bring to life this story of an icon in a new and revealing way.”"

At the end of the day, both Tom Brady and Michael Jordan are the best to ever perform in their own sports and are both six-time world champions in their respective leagues.
