5) Week 9 – Monday Night Football @ New York Jets

I rank this as the worst prime-time game the Patriots will have this coming season. If it is anything like the Monday Night Football match we saw for New England last year, then I am correct in this ranking, too.

Sure, it was fun to watch New England win 33-0 and to hear Sam Darnold say that he was seeing ghosts. But for the most part, Monday Night Football is not what it used to be.

The good news is that Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland are out of the MNF booth, which is a big first step, but unless they bring in Peyton Manning or Pat McAfee, I’m not sure where the jolt will come from the broadcast booth.

Monday Night Football also needs to get rid of the “Monday Night Mic,” which is mostly players grunting, breathing heavy while running, or — if the Texans are playing — JJ Watt yelling really loud.

Besides the commentary, the Jets were a terrible football team last year, and I know fans in the “New York” — really New Jersey — area will say, “Just wait for Darnold to have a full season healthy.”

In my opinion, Darnold can be fully healthy, I just don’t think the Jets will be a good football team in 2020, and this will turn out to be New England’s worst prime-time game in 2020.
