Super Bowl 49 3rd-and-14 play (game winner)

There are two moments in this game which were crucial for the second part of the Patriots’ dynasty.

New England was down 10 points in the fourth quarter against the Legion of Boom. Seattle’s secondary was star-studded, and Brady had already thrown two interceptions.

With 11 minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Brady and Edelman faced a 3rd and 14 play, in which Brady stepped up and threw a strike to Edelman. Julian took a gigantic hit from Kam Chancellor, but he got up and continued to stumble downfield (before they ruled he was down by contact).

Edelman showed the Legion of Boom that he wouldn’t back down from them.

Later in the game, New England was down by three, and Edelman caught Brady’s last pass of the game for a go-ahead touchdown on a play they had never practiced. Brady entrusted his go-to-man on the game-winning touchdown.

A phenomenal Super Bowl for Edelman, keeping New England’s fourth quarter drives alive time and again, before catching the game winning touchdown … this definitely deserves a spot on the list.
