4th Down: Address the quarterback position

Despite what side of the fence you were on when the rumors swirled around Boston like a winter storm, the unthinkable happened: Tom Brady is not going to be playing for the New England Patriots anymore. It is going to be genuinely shocking to see him suit up in 2020 in a Buccaneers uniform.

All signs point to the Jarrett Stidham era beginning this season for the Patriots. Brian Hoyer also agreed to a deal that would see him play in New England again this season and compete for the starting job.

However, if the New England Patriots don’t think Stidham or Hoyer is the guy, then there are a handful of prospects in the draft the team can select.

Oregon’s Justin Herbert has the size to be a top talent in the NFL, but it is unlikely that the Patriots would select a quarterback in the first round … seeing how they have two already on the roster. Tua Tagovailoa from Alabama is linked to New England as well. Jordan Love from Utah State and Jake Fromm from Georgia are two more names that have a legitimate chance to play in New England for the foreseeable future.

The NFL draft begins Thursday at 8 pm ET on ESPN.
