2nd Down: Fortifying the offensive line

Fortifying the offensive line is going to be vital for the New England Patriots to achieve success in 2020. The team has always had a strong offensive line, and the position has been key to winning Super Bowls.

Last year, however, the offensive line struggled. David Andrews missed the entire year with blood clots in his lungs, Isaiah Wynn missed most of the season with injuries, and both Shaq Mason and Marcus Cannon struggled at times as well.

So far, the New England Patriots placed the franchise tag on Joe Thuney … and the “acquisitions” stop there. Ted Karras filled in for Andrews last season, and he has taken his talents to Miami, so if Andrews can’t make a comeback this season, then they need to fill that role as well as adding depth to the rest of the line.

The Patriots need to add size to their offensive line, and a handful of prospects check off that requirement. Cesar Ruiz from Michigan is 6’3, Isaiah Wilson from Georgia is 6’7, Austin Jackson from USC is 6’5, Lucas Niang from TCU is 6’6, and Prince Tega Wanogho from Auburn is 6’5.
