1st Down: Add No. 1-caliber wide receiver

The New England Patriots offense struggled all last season, and one of the biggest reasons why was there was no production from the wide receiver position.

Julian Edelman tried his best to carry the receiving group, but it didn’t work. Mohamed Sanu didn’t pan out the way the Patriots wanted, N’Keal Harry was hurt most of the season, Phillip Dorsett regressed from 2018, and that is about it for the receivers.

The New England Patriots have yet to address the wide receiver position aside from adding Damiere Byrd, who is likely going to replace Dorsett (who is heading to Seattle).

There are going to be a lot of wide receivers in the draft this year to fill the roster. Some names to keep an eye on as the draft goes on for the next few days are Justin Jefferson from LSU, Tee Higgins from Clemson, Jalen Reagor from TCU, Michael Pittman Jr from USC, and Chase Claypool from Notre Dame. These five players have size (besides Reagor) and speed that can help out a position that struggled last season.
