Mykal Walker is a low-risk pick with the potential to develop into something special. I don’t understand how he hasn’t gotten more recognition from the general media. I love so much about this guy’s game.

Similar to Zack Baun, Walker can line up anywhere. He displayed talent as a rusher off the edge and as a linebacker at Fresno State. He’s got a nice motor, he shoots the gap effectively, and he has a big tackle radius. He can struggle to finish tackles, but it’s rare to see him get out-bodied with his 6’3 frame.

He doesn’t have much success trying to play in coverage, which could make him a liability on passing downs, as offenses will know he’s rushing and can abuse his weak coverage skills.

Still, Walker’s floor is a seriously good special teams player, with his ceiling being a legitimate NFL starter. I think Belichick is the mastermind Walker should hope he’s playing for next year, as Bill will find out how to use him most effectively.
