#3) New England vs. Jacksonville (AFC Championship Game, 2017 season)

Tom Brady’s hand.

Brady spoke to the press before this championship game and left fans worried. He was asked about his hand, which he had badly injured in practice, to which he answered, “not talking about it.” Then he was asked if he would play, to which he said, “we’ll see.”

Tom Brady went the whole season without Julian Edelman, and in the AFC Championship Game, he lost Rob Gronkowski due to a concussion. It was the fourth quarter, against the league’s top-ranked defense, he was down 10 points without his top-two trusted weapons, and he had a gash on his throwing hand.

As Mark Twain once said, “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.”

Brady came storming back in the fourth quarter, throwing over 100 yards and two touchdowns to give New England the lead, the win, and an appearance in their second straight Super Bowl.
