Joe Thuney

Here’s a player who never takes a down off.

Joe Thuney is a model of consistency, both on and off the field. He has yet to miss a regular season game in his NFL career because of injury, he virtually never gets flagged for holding, and he seldom (if ever) gives up sacks.

In short, he’s every NFL team’s ideal guard.

The 27-year-old has played at left guard for the Pats since they took him in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, this very much looks like it will be the end of the Thuney era in New England.

There’s simply no way the Patriots manage to find enough cash to keep him in the fold for 2020. Too many other teams have needs along their offensive line, and Thuney is expected to command top dollar for some other team this month.

He had a great run with the Patriots, but that run is over.
