Will Tom Brady come back to New England Patriots?

Tom Brady will be hitting free agency this spring. Will the long-time New England Patriots quarterback return to Foxborough on a new deal in 2020?

Tom Brady isn’t getting any younger. He’s also getting more expensive. The six-time Super Bowl champion will be hitting free agency this spring at 42-years-old. Although he has spent his entire 20-year NFL career with the New England Patriots, what are the chances he returns to Foxborough on a new contract begin in 2020?

On this week’s episode of Stacking the Box, FanSided‘s Matt Verderame and Mark Carman, along with former NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz, look at the possibility of Brady leaving the Patriots and what is in store for the future Pro Football Hall of Famer (38:42).

“He’s not going anywhere else,” said Schwartz. “He’s going to be a New England Patriot next year because there is no other option, guys. Look, do we think at year 43 he’s going to take a money grab just to play two more years, making $30 million a year? He wants to win. There are two places to win: New England and maybe in Nashville. That’s it.”

“I am out on the idea that he will leave New England,” said Verderame. “I think he will stay in New England, but I will say this. I’ll throw one little caveat into the mix. The only fly in the ointment would be is if for whatever reason something happens where they don’t get this deal done before free agency and the Raiders or the Chargers come in with some unbelievable Godfather offer.”

New England may be okay with Brady at least testing free agency, but where else is he going to find a better scenario to play football in? He will have the same head coach, the same offensive coordinator and the same routine that has made him the greatest quarterback of all time waiting for him in Foxborough. Barring “a Godfather offer”, he has to go back to the Patriots in 2020.

This will be a very interesting free agency for the quarterback position, as so many good-to-great signal-callers will be hitting the market. Brady is the oldest, but also the most successful in his NFL career by a wide margin. He may take a visit with another franchise, but he’d be out of his mind to play for another franchise besides the Patriots in his illustrious pro football career.
