2nd Down: Final tune-up before the playoffs

If things go according to plan and the New England Patriots secure the first-round bye and then host a Divisional round game in a couple weeks, this game will be important for them. The reason why is because this will be their final preparation for the playoffs.

Bill Belichick and company can use Miami as lab rats to test out some things they may use during the playoffs. Either that or they could use this game to work out some more kinks that the offense has been experiencing all season. Maybe Tom Brady can get on the same page as all of his receivers not named Julian Edelman.

Also, the running game hasn’t been there at all this season, although Sony Michel had one of his best games against this same Dolphins defense back in Week 2.

This could be a momentum building game for Brady’s side of the ball, as they will need the offense to show up when the games matter most in the playoffs.
