The first matchup between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes was a crazy one. Similar to Super Bowl LII, this one was an absolute shootout from start to finish.

Despite this, New England’s defense actually started this game incredibly strong. They were able to hold the Chiefs to just three field goals in the first half, and forced Mahomes to throw two interceptions as they went into the locker room up 24-9.

That’s when the Chiefs offense came to life.

Kansas City opened up the second half with a 67-yard bomb from Mahomes to Kareem Hunt that went for a touchdown. New England would answer back with a Stephen Gostkowski field goal, but the Chiefs then put up 10 unanswered points to cut the lead to just one point going into the fourth quarter.

Believe it or not, these teams were still not done scoring, as they put up a joint 29 points in the fourth quarter alone, including a 75-yard Tyreek Hill touchdown reception with just over three minutes to play.

Enter Tom Brady – who finished with 340 yards and two touchdowns (one passing and one rushing) – as he drove the Patriots down the field with a seven-play drive to end the game, highlighted by a 39-yard pass to Rob Gronkowski to put them in the red zone. This all led to a game-winning field goal for Gostkowski as New England handed the Chiefs their first loss of the year.
