4th Down: Must-win game in this stretch of the season

The Patriots are 1-1 on this crucial five-game stretch against some of the league’s top teams and division leaders. The first two games were both played on the road; now they have two of the remaining three at home.

They start by returning to Gillette Stadium to face the Cowboys, and this is a must-win game because they need to keep riding the wave of momentum after losing their first game of the season to Baltimore two weeks ago. They outlasted the Eagles last week, and with the home crowd on their side, they need to win this game to keep their lead over the Ravens in the race for the No. 1 seed in the conference. Plus, they have another tough road game next week in Houston against the surging Texans.
