4th Down: Super Bowl 52 rematch

Super Bowl 52 was one for the ages, as both Philadelphia and New England slugged it out in an offensive scoring spree. In the end, it was one timely play by the Eagles defense that ultimately brought a title to Philadelphia: Brandon Graham’s strip sack and forced fumble on Tom Brady that led to a field goal late in the fourth quarter and effectively sealed a 41-33 victory.

Sunday was a much different game and narrative, as the rematch was essentially a battle of defenses. It was the New England Patriots’ defense that kept them in the game, and in the end, it only took a touchdown and a two-point conversion to help the visitors walk away with the 17-10 victory.

Next. Alex Guerrero on Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and Patriots. dark

The Patriots defense forced two fumbles on Wentz and sacked him five times; this proved to be the difference, because the Eagles defense couldn’t stop the Patriots offense when it mattered, allowing them to score 17 unanswered points. On the other side, the defense of the New England Patriots didn’t allow a single point after allowing 10 straight to open the game.
